Kenji Ueno ( Japanese 上 野 健 爾 , Ueno Kenji ; * 1945 in Kumamoto Prefecture ) is a Japanese mathematician who studies algebraic geometry.

He was at Tokyo University in the 1970s and professor at Kyoto University from 1987 to 2009 and is professor at Yokkaichi University and director of the Seki Kowa Institute for Mathematics there.

Ueno was, among other things, visiting scholar at the Universities of Bonn and Mannheim in the 1970s.

He is the author and editor of a number of books on algebraic geometry.
