Character type

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In plant sociology and geobotany, a type of character , also known as a type of character, is a type of plant or a taxon , the natural occurrence of which is predominantly limited to a plant community or a higher unit of plant communities. Character types characterize both natural and anthropogenic vegetation units or plant communities.

Examples are the daisy ( Bellis perennis ) on park lawns (association: Cynosurion, ryegrass-white clover-willow) or the white dead nettle ( Lamium album ) in burdock associations (association: Arction lappae).

In addition, there are differential species that can occur in several plant communities.
