Keppan

Keppan ( Japanese 血判 ; literally: " blood oath ") refers to a written contract between a master and a student who wants to learn from him. This form of contract is common at Japanese martial arts schools. It is signed with the student's blood. It says that the student may not reveal the secrets of his school ( ryū ) to outsiders.
