Stockholms-Tidningen
Stockholms-Tidningen was a Swedish morning newspaper that was published from 1889 to 1966 and 1981-1984 in Stockholm . A local magazine with this name has existed since 1993 .
1889-1966
The Stockholms-Tidningen was founded in 1889 as a national liberal daily newspaper. It was soon the largest daily newspaper in Scandinavia with a circulation of 100,000 copies. During its heyday it was the premier morning paper with a strong commitment to social reform, as well as voting and cultural issues. Stockholms-Tidningen remained Sweden's largest morning newspaper until the early 1930s when it was replaced by Dagens Nyheter .
In 1931 it was merged with Stockholms Dagblad and was the mouthpiece of the Liberals with u. a. Bertil Ohlin as an employee. In 1937 the newspaper was acquired by Torsten Kreuger , who also owned Aftonbladet . In 1956 he sold Stockholms-Tidningen together with Aftonbladet to the Swedish Trade Union Confederation , which gave the newspaper a political social-democratic direction. On February 27, 1966, the publication was stopped after the owner suffered significant losses.
1981-1984
On Friday, September 18, 1981, the Swedish labor movement made a new attempt to publish Stockholms-Tidningen, this time local to Stockholm. However, bankruptcy had to be filed as early as 1984.
From 1993
Stockholms-Tidningen was started again in 1993, this time as a magazine that is now (2010) published weekly as a sister magazine to Aktuell i Politiken and which is related to the social democratic party. It is published mainly in Stockholm and the surrounding area and had around 4,000 subscribers in 2010.
