Kerma performance

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Kermaleistung is a dose size and plays a role in the use of ionizing radiation . It indicates how large the kinetic energy of the particles is that are generated in a unit of time within a material of mass m. Accordingly, it can be calculated using the formula:

Since the quotient of kinetic energy and irradiated mass is equal to Kerma (K), the formula can also be written as:

The Kerma performance varies from material to material and also depends on the type of incoming radiation. The main purpose of the Kerma performance is to describe the effect of non-direct ionizing radiation. With ionizing radiation, it is easier to use the usual dose sizes.
