Motor vehicle power wrench

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A motor vehicle power wrench , also known colloquially as a pole wrench , is a tool for breaking locks in motor vehicles. Its main purpose is to open locks whose keys have been lost, but it is also used by criminals .

technology

When using a motor vehicle power wrench, a type of key blank made of hardened material is pushed into the lock and turned with the help of a lever. The process usually does not leave any obvious external mark on the lock concerned; it generally also remains functional, although a slightly increased resistance can be felt when the lock is operated. Only a dismantling of the lock cylinder with a precise examination of the fine mechanical individual parts under a magnifying glass can provide information on the use of such a tool .
