Kin'yō-wakashū

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kin'yō-Wakashū ( Jap. : 金葉和歌集 also: 金葉集 Kin'yōshū , literally Collection Golden Leaves ) is a Waka - anthology of the late Heian period of Japan . The first two drafts were completed in 1124 and 1127. The anthology was compiled by Minamoto no Toshiyori (1055-1129) on the orders of Tennō Shirakawa (1053-1129), who had already been replaced . The anthology comprises 10 volumes with a total of 716 waka. Because of Toshiyori's free and inventive style, the Tennō rejected the first two designs.
