King Edward VII Public Library

The King Edward VII Public Library is a former library building in the center of the South African city of George .

The building was erected in 1905 according to a design by the architect Charles Bullock in the neo-renaissance style. Previously there were tennis courts and the city's first prison on the site. In 1962 the municipal administration bought the house. After the new construction of the public library north of the George Museum , the tourist information office has been located in the building since 1992 .

The building is named after the then reigning British King Edward VII.
