The Kingsford Smith PL.7 was an Australian agricultural aircraft designed and built by Kingsford Smith Aviation Service in the 1950s .
History and construction
The fuselage of the PL.7 consisted mainly of a welded steel container, which formed the tank for the fertilizer or other chemicals to be distributed and which housed the pilot's seat in the rear. The aircraft was powered by an Armstrong Siddeley Cheetah X radial engine with 400 hp (298 kW). The aircraft was designed as a braced biplane, with the lower wings about a quarter narrower than the upper. The fabric-covered tail unit was located at the end of two tail unit girders extending from the upper wing. The machine also had a fixed nose wheel landing gear . The prototype first flew on September 20, 1956, but burned in 1958, after which the project was discontinued.
