Church of the Birth of Mary, Naxxar

The Church of the Birth of the Virgin ( Maltese Il-knisja Arċipretali u Matriċi tat-Twelid ta 'Marija ) is the Roman Catholic parish church of Naxxar , Malta .

The church was built between 1614 and 1630 in the shape of a Latin cross . Aisles were added in the early 20th century and the church got a new facade.

At the beginning of the 17th century this was the parish church for all of the north of the island; the community extended to Mellieħa. The communities of Għargħur, Mosta, Mellieħa and St. Paul's Bay were formed from the original municipality area.
