The Church of Sergius of Radonezh ( Russian Храм преподобного Сергия Радонежского ) is a Russian Orthodox church in the city of Nizhny Novgorod in Russia . The church was built from 1865 to 1869. It was consecrated to St. Sergius of Radonezh .

history

Construction of the church began in 1865 and was approved by the Russian Tsar Alexander II . The church was completed in 1869. During the times of the Soviet Union , the artists' association was located in the church building.

It was not until 2003 that the Church of Sergius of Radonezh was returned to the Nizhny Novgorod diocese. The twelve bells in the bell tower were installed in 2006, the largest of which weighs four tons.

The inauguration took place on November 4, 2006 by the Archbishop of Nizhny Novgorod and Arsamas. The first vice-prime minister of the Russian government was present at the first liturgy after the consecration of the church .

On January 27, 2010, a service in honor of St. Nino was held in the church . It was held in the Georgian language .
