Church for tomorrow

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Church for Tomorrow eV ( Kfm ) is an initiative within the Evangelical Church in Württemberg . Kfm advocates fresh forms of church, new styles of music in worship services, a democratic participation church instead of an administrative church and for a lively reference to Christ without theological constriction. As a non-profit, registered association based in Nagold , the Church will have 250 members for tomorrow (as of June 2014), including more than 20 pastors. Kfm is represented in the form of a discussion group in the regional synod of the Evangelical Church in Württemberg. In addition to Kfm, there are three other discussion groups in the Württemberg Synod today .

history

Foundation and election to the 13th regional synod (2001)

The association was founded in February 2001, before the church election in November 2001. For the 13th national synod to be elected at that time, candidates could be nominated in half of the constituencies. The program found supporters straight away and so two candidates were finally able to enter the regional synod.

Election to the 14th regional synod (2007)

In the election for the 14th regional synod in 2007, an even larger number of voters gave the Church their trust for tomorrow and a total of seven Kfm candidates were elected to the synod. Since the summer synod of 2011, Kfm has also provided a youth synod.

Election to the 15th regional synod (2013)

In December 2013 the election of the 15th regional synod took place, for which the church stood for tomorrow with the election program “Reformation now”. The main points of the program were the promotion of modern forms of worship and music styles, more grassroots democracy and a contemporary church structure that supports fresh initiatives and ideas. Church for tomorrow received almost 12% of all votes, but due to the majority vote only five of the 90 elected seats (corresponds to 5.5%).

Positions

Church for tomorrow is committed to reforming the Protestant regional church towards a future-oriented church with a vision. The reform should come from within the congregations and, for example, implement the priesthood of all believers. In addition to additional forms of worship, this also includes new forms of congregation, such as youth, lifeworld and profile congregations. All parishes should have the right to freely and directly elect their pastor. In addition, alternative forms of financing are to be promoted and bureaucracy reduced. In contrast to the other discussion groups, Kfm would like to implement Martin Luther's idea of the Reformation even today, in line with the thesis “Ecclesia semper reformanda est” - “the church must not stop reforming itself”. Kfm uses a lemon as a distinguishing feature . The lemon stands as a synonym for “refreshingly different” and is also intended to show that Kfm particularly wants to address people who have little knowledge of what to do with the symbols of an ecclesiastical milieu and its language.

Church political work

United by the common goal of reforming the church from within and also to anchor the foundations in the synod, Christians from different church political directions come together in Kfm. Thus, the church political direction can only be divided into the well-known categories such as B. classify "progressive" or "conservative". As a future-oriented group, Kfm itself repeatedly uses the slogan “Church for tomorrow: not left, not right, but in front!” A brief description can be found here.

media

Kirche für Morgen uses media for its external appearance in a consciously creative way and as a contrast to the usual church way. Examples of this are the 2013 election clip and the 2013 election posters and stickers. In the social media platforms, Church for Tomorrow is represented on Facebook, Twitter and with its own channel on YouTube. The association repeatedly publishes position papers, so-called impulse papers, on various current church political issues. An example of this is the impulse paper on church office. The magazine “Zitronenfalter” from Kfm appears regularly, three times a year. It illuminates a current cover topic in detail, including practical reports, interviews and pro-contra discussions. There are also reports on the work of Kfm in the synod and in the congregations. The lemon butterfly is available as a PDF on the homepage. You can also subscribe to a newsletter.
