Church shack in Grimmen

The church shack is a listed half-timbered house at Schulstrasse 6 in Grimmen .

The single-storey, simple building with a gable roof has a double-leaf door and two simple windows on its front on the ground floor. In the gable there are two more windows that are placed in the middle above the entrance door. Furthermore, on the outside of the gable, you can see two more, much smaller windows that were installed in a line with the windows on the ground floor. In the loft there are two more windows that are in alignment with the entrance door.

In 1546 Duke Philip I built three booths on the property , which had to be demolished in 1819 due to disrepair. In 1819 the church erected a new building - linked to the requirement to create affordable living space for needy residents. This resulted in six rooms , six chambers, four chimneys and a communal kitchen on the ground floor . Four rooms with cooking facilities were built on the upper floor.
