Kit Kat (Club)

The Kit Kat was a nightclub in London that opened in February 1984 by Simon Hobart, a DJ and club promoter. The Kit Kat got its name from a club of the same name from the film Cabaret .

The club was initially located in Studio One (now “Metro”) on Oxford Street and shortly afterwards moved to a converted warehouse, the so-called “Pleasure Dive”, on Westbourne Grove in Notting Hill . In the first few months, the Kit Kat developed into an important center of the London Gothic scene in 1985 .

The events took place every Saturday evening and, in addition to goths, also attracted members of other scenes such as punks or skinheads . The musical range mainly comprised post-punk , gothic rock and electronic music .

The Kit Kat closed in 1989. Simon Hobart died on October 23, 2005 as a result of a fall. He was 41 years old.
