Kizuna (Manga)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kizuna is a manga by Kazuma Kodaka . The manga can be classified in the genre of Yaoi and was animated in the form of two OVA series.

action

Two couples and their relationship with one another are followed over several years. One is Kei Enjoji and Ranmaru Samejima, who have known each other since high school. And then there is Kai Sagano and Masanori Araki, who has protected Kai since he was born.

main characters

Ranmaru Samejima sacrificed his free time during his youth exclusively for kendo , in which he was taught from early childhood by his grandfather, who also took care of his upbringing, since Ranmaru's mother died after a serious illness and his father had disappeared up to volume 10. He met his friend and lover Kei Enjoji during middle school, but they parted ways by high school. And although he resisted his feelings in the beginning, the two became a couple and even married in the course of the story. However, this was only done symbolically, as a civil wedding ceremony among same-sex people in Japan is not allowed and homosexuality is still frowned upon.

Kei Enjoji is the son of a yakuza boss and his lover, a geisha. His mother, who completely broke off contact with Kei's father, died after a long and serious illness. From then on he was on his own. During this difficult time he was accompanied by Ranmaru Samejima, whom he fell in love with at the first meeting in middle school and from that moment more than clearly courted him. Kei also has a half-brother, Kai Sagano, who is the son of their father and his wife.

Kai Sagano is the son of the same yakuza boss and half-brother of Kei Enjoji. His mother died when Kai was two years old. After her death, it was mainly the Yakuza clan who took care of his physical and mental well-being, above all Masanori Araki, who seems to read every wish from his lips, which made Kai a rather spoiled boy and later an adult who only asserted himself has his own will in mind. At the beginning of the story, Kai is in love with Ranmaru Samejima, but later discovers his love for Masanori Araki, who initially does not see him as a lover and regularly rejects him painfully.

Masanori Araki is the junior boss of the Yakuza clan, who has acted as bodyguard for Kai Sagano since he started with the clan. In the beginning, the two only share a deep affection for one another: Masanori is father, mother and brother at the same time for his protégé. Pressed by Kai's advances, the latter initially rejects him, which is more a question of morality than unrequited love, as Masanori is almost seventeen years older on the one hand and reports to Kai's father on the other. However, he soon realizes his true feelings about Kai Sagano.

The manga appeared in Japan from 1992 to 2008 in Be × Boy magazine and was published in eleven anthologies by Biblos and later Libre . In Germany it was published by Carlsen Comics from summer 2003 .
