Kizuna ( Jap. きずな ), the meaning in German is connectedness, or WINDS ( Engl. W ideband I nter N etworking engineering test and D emonstration S atellite) is a Japanese communications satellite , which with a H-IIA launch vehicle on 23 February Launched in 2008 from the Tanegashima Space Center .

According to JAXA , Kizuna offers a download speed of 155 MB / s when using a 45 centimeter satellite antenna. For the industrial sector, a bandwidth of 1.2 Gb / s is specified for a 5-meter antenna.

There was a malfunction in February 2019; since then, Kizuna has been drifting westward along the geostationary orbit. JAXA switched off the satellite on February 27, 2019.
