Klaus-Dieter Tilch (* before 1981 in the Weser Uplands ) is a German author and publisher.

Life

Growing up in the Weser Uplands (Lower Saxony), he studied art (painting) in Berlin. Until 1981 he worked as an artist, accompanied by various exhibitions and art actions. From 1982 Klaus-Dieter Tilch devoted himself entirely to music. From an early age he collected material on the subject of rock music. Whether it was simple information about bands or records, covers, everything was archived. In 1982 he decided to digitally record and process the data that had been collected over the years using the first PCs on the market. The first printed book appeared in 1984. All books have been published by Taurus Press (Hamburg).

In 1996 Klaus-Dieter Tilch founded his own publishing house under the name Popular Music Archive (PMA), in which all CDs and DVDs were released. The rock LPs as well as the rock archives contain more than 50 years of music history. It was arguably the greatest rock and pop discography before the internet came. A reference work for everyone who is not only interested in music acoustically. The last rock archive contains information on 1,300,000 songs, 630,000 musicians, 155,000 labels, 115,000 CDs / LPs and 29,000 cover images.

Klaus-Dieter Tilch managed all work for and around the individual works on his own: he was an author, publisher, graphic artist, programmer, researcher and data processor at the same time.

In the meantime his publisher PMA no longer exists.
