The Minorite Church in Cluj-Napoca (Eng. Klausenburg) was built in the years 1775–1779 according to the plans of the Swabian architect Johann Eberhard Blaumann in Baroque style. The founder of the church was Archduchess Maria Theresa in her capacity as Grand Duchess of Transylvania . In 1924 Pope Pius XI. the church and monastery building to the United Diocese of Cluj-Gherla and since 1930 the former Minorite Church has served as the cathedral of the Diocese of Cluj-Gherla.

The patronage of the church is the feast of the transfiguration of the Lord .

The nameplates of the saints on the Art Nouveau glass windows were removed after the transfer of ownership in the 20th century, as the figures represent saints from the Latin tradition , with a special reference to Hungary .
