Ruhr Piano Festival
The Ruhr Piano Festival (also known as the Ruhr Piano Festival ) is a piano music festival that takes place every summer in the Ruhr area . The organizer is the Ruhr Piano Festival Foundation and Franz Xaver Ohnesorg is the artistic director .
Internationally known pianists as well as up-and-coming artists play the piano on several days a week for about three months at several locations. These range from the Konzerthaus Dortmund and the Harenberg City-Center in Dortmund to the Ruhrfestspielhaus in Recklinghausen, Hohenlimburg Castle in Hagen, the Philharmonie Essen and the Mercatorhalle in Duisburg to the Tonhalle Düsseldorf .
Well-known local industrial companies are sponsoring the Ruhr Piano Festival. The event series, which costs around one million euros a year, includes around 80 concerts in North Rhine-Westphalia and is attended by around 60,000 people annually.
