Small field tennis

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Small field tennis is a modification of the ball game tennis , which is specially adapted for small children. The size of the playing field is greatly reduced. The entire field is 10.97 m long and 6 m wide. One side has a length of 5.49 m. As with the original, there are also service fields whose boundary lines (T-lines) are each 4.12 m away from the network. The net has a constant height of 85 cm and a length of 6 m, so it does not protrude beyond the playing field.

With the help of such a portable net, small-field tennis can easily be played on a normal tennis court. For this purpose, the small field net on one side of the tennis court is placed across the original net on the service center line so that the service line bisects the small field net. Now all that remains is to draw lines perpendicular to the double side lines of the tennis court on the sides of the small field net (on clay courts usually only with the help of a broom, on hard courts or carpets with adhesive tape), which represent the side lines of the small field.
