Small quote

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As a small quote refers to the copyright (about § 51 German Copyright Act, no. 2), the excerpts Quote of a copyrighted, non-scientific work. The small quotation is in contrast to the large quotation ( e.g. § 51 German UrhG, No. 1), the extensive quoting from a scientific work . A special form of the small quotation is the music quotation ( e.g. Section 51 of the German Copyright Act, No. 3).

The right to quote is based on the basic idea that cultural achievements are almost always based on predecessors. It is therefore expected that the author will have to accept this relatively minor encroachment on his exploitation rights.
