Climbing monkey

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A climbing monkey is a device for displaying bites when bottom fishing . Climbing monkeys are available in different designs, colors and in different weights.

Principle: The fishing rod is positioned in two rod holders; The climbing monkey is placed between the two rod holders. This is a 20–50 centimeter long metal rod onto which a weight that can be moved up and down is placed. The fishing line is guided through this weight so that when the line is withdrawn, the weight slides upwards. When the upper point is reached, the climbing monkey automatically releases the line. It is a purely optical bite indicator.
