Mönchsroth Monastery
The Mönchsroth monastery is a former Benedictine monastery in Mönchsroth ( Ansbach district ) in Bavaria in the diocese of Augsburg .
history
The monastery, consecrated to St. Peter and Paul, was founded by Hermann and Adala von Leiningen together with Count Diemo von Prozelten around 1130. In the 15th century it came under the bailiwick of the Counts of Oettingen. In 1558 the monastery was closed during the Reformation and the property was administered by the Mönchsroth Office of the County of Oettingen . Apart from the monastery church, nothing has been preserved from the earlier complex.
