The Monastery Nowy Sacz is a subsidiary of since 1831 Jesuits in Nowy Sacz in the Malopolska province . From 1410 to 1784 there was a Premonstratensian monastery .

history

Premonstratensian monastery

In 1410, King Władysław Jagiełło of Poland founded the monastery for Premonstratensians in the local Holy Spirit Hospital . The monks came from the Brzesko Monastery. In 1412 he granted Magdeburg city rights to six villages in the monastery.

In 1610 a fire destroyed the church and parts of the monastery. In 1784 it was dissolved in the course of the Josephine reforms after the area was taken over by the Habsburg monarchy.

Jesuit monastery

In 1831 the dilapidated monastery was handed over to the Jesuit order. In 1894 the church partially burned down again.
