Kloster am Steg (Lindau)
The Kloster am Steg was a monastery of the Beguines and an institute of the English Fräulein in Lindau in Lake Constance .
history
The monastery of the beguines was founded in 1268. On May 15, 1525 the monastery was dissolved and sold. The former monastery was acquired by English girls from the motherhouse in Munich-Nymphenburg in 1857 , who founded a “private secondary school for girls”. In 1991 the “Insel-Institut” of the English Misses was dissolved. The Maria Ward Realschule will continue to be run as a girls school of the Schulwerk of the Diocese of Augsburg .
