The Schulwerk of the Diocese of Augsburg ( Diocese of Augsburg ) was founded in 1975 under the leadership of Bishop Josef Stimpfle . The responsible foundation supervisory authority is the Episcopal Finance Chamber of the Diocese of Augsburg. The Schulwerk of the Diocese of Augsburg includes 10 grammar schools, 20 secondary schools, three elementary schools, one middle school, five specialist academies for social pedagogy, one technical college, one vocational school for nutrition and care and one vocational school for child care.

In the 2020/21 school year, the Rudolf Diesel Realschule in Augsburg will be taken over and will continue to be run as the Bischof Ulrich Realschule . A primary school is also to be built on the school grounds in the Kriegshaber district from the school year 2021/22, subject to government approval.

Petrus Canisius Prize

Since 2012, the Schulwerk has been awarding the Petrus Canisius Prize, named after the former cathedral preacher, to students (projects / groups) who are particularly committed to the school community at a Catholic school. Since 2017 (sixth award ceremony), the categories of teacher projects and school family projects have also been set up. All three categories are each endowed with 1000 euros.
