The Catholic vocational school for nutrition and supply Maria Stern Augsburg (formerly vocational school for home economics) is a vocational school in Augsburg . history

In 1828, the Maria Stern monastery was commissioned by King Ludwig I to devote itself to the education of girls. In 1926 there was a kindergarten teachers' seminar, the girls' college, the women's school, the housekeeping school and the girls' middle school. After the schools were closed by the National Socialists during the Third Reich , the Maria Stern Monastery resumed vocational training for girls after the Second World War . From 1951 the first basic courses for housekeeping and social professions took place. In the course of time, the schools became the specialist academy for social pedagogy , the specialist academy for housekeeping and the vocational school for housekeeping and child care. In 1979 the Schulwerk of the Diocese of Augsburg took over the sponsorship of the vocational schools from the Order of the Franciscan Sisters of Maria Stern. In 2013, the vocational school for home economics was renamed the vocational school for nutrition and supply by the Bavarian State Ministry for Education and Culture.

The Maria Stern vocational school offers training in housekeeping, nutrition and care. In three years, the school-based vocational training as a housekeeper can be completed in accordance with the Vocational Training Act or as an assistant for nutrition and supply. If you already have a middle school leaving certificate, the training period can be shortened to two years. The pupils also have the option of completing a secondary school leaving certificate - if they do not already have one. If you attend vocational school plus at the same time, you can also obtain a higher education entrance qualification. As the only vocational school in Swabia, the vocational school for nutrition and supply Maria Stern offers the KMK English certificate for gastronomy professions (level I) in the third year of training in English.

As a Catholic school, the school management and staff have the task of not only imparting professional competence, but also and above all of teaching and living Christian values ​​in order to support young people in their search for life and self-discovery. In addition to general education such as B. German, religion, social studies are part of the specialist lessons nutrition, food preparation and service, household technology, education and care, room and textile care, textile design and the design of rooms. Hotel and catering as well as project-oriented work are also integral parts of the curriculum as elective subjects. In addition to their school education, the vocational school students complete various internships in family households, in large companies, as well as in the catering and hotel sectors. Attending trade fairs (e.g. Bio-Fach, Internorga) is also an integral part of the training. In addition, pupils take part in the federal and state competitions for apprentices in home economics. In addition to school-based skills, extracurricular skills are also promoted: the Sternstunden project series conveys key social and professional skills by organizing and carrying out various activities. The students work together on various projects with Bavarian television.
