The Maria Stern secondary school in Augsburg is a secondary school for girls and boys in Augsburg , which was founded in 1933. The school authority of the state-recognized private school is the Schulwerk of the Diocese of Augsburg .

history

The Maria Stern Realschule was founded by the Sisters of the Franciscan Sisters of Maria Stern , who were also the school authorities until 2000. School operations had to be stopped during the Second World War because the building was confiscated as a reserve hospital. From January 1, 2001, the diocese of Augsburg took over the sponsorship of the school.

The school has been an all girls' school in the Franciscan tradition since its foundation and accepts not only Catholic but also Protestant girls.

The school's guidelines are based on the areas of religious life (religious festivals), learning to live, openness to the world in a globalized world and Francis of Assisi as a timeless role model. The four pillars of the training are religious education, MINT (mathematics, computer science, natural science and technology), advice and help and professional orientation. These are embedded in the Franciscan guidelines.

The school offers an open all-day program in which pupils in the 5th and 6th grade can participate.

building

The school building was built in the New Objectivity style according to plans by the architects Heinrich Sturzenegger and Anton Horle . The school, together with the St. Klara school church, designed at the same time according to plans by the church builder Michael Kurz , with round windows and frescoes by Robert Rabolt and the crucifix by Karl Bauer and the spacious garden designed by Hans Wohlwend , are listed as an ensemble.

The school building consists of a four-story, elongated building with a flat hipped roof with a mezzanine floor . To the east is the protruding chapel. The three-story extension with a flat gable roof connects to the south.

The Maria Stern Augsburg grammar school is located in the same building .
