The Knödelbrunnen is the nickname of a fountain in the center of the Ludwigshafen pedestrian zone . It is a fountain system designed by the Ludwigshafen artist Ernst W. Kunz with spheres piled on top of each other. The fountain was created as a result of a competition by the city of Ludwigshafen am Rhein for the artistic decoration of Bismarckstrasse, which was converted into a pedestrian zone in 1977.

It got its name from the people of Ludwigshafen because the round fountain elements are reminiscent of dumplings .

Due to planned construction work in its vicinity, the well is to be dismantled, stored and rebuilt elsewhere in the second half of 2019.
