As cracked eggs are chicken eggs designated which have small cracks and creases in the shell. These belong to quality class B and thus belong to secondary goods.

Until the 1980s, consumers could still get cracked eggs on request from farms that sell their home-made products. These were always greatly reduced in price, sometimes up to 60 percent. Until 2004, a distinction was made between eggs of quality classes B and C. While cracked eggs were class B and could still be sold to consumers, quality class C eggs were badly damaged and not approved for the food industry because they were no longer suitable for human consumption.
