Knickerbocker Glory
Knickerbocker Glory is an ice cream dish that consists of layers of fruit or berries and ice cream - mostly vanilla and strawberry ice cream - in a tall glass.
The dish is crowned by a portion of whipped cream, which is often decorated with nut chips and a cherry. About the layers of ice and fruit is usually a fruit sauce given. The Knickerbocker Glory is consumed with a particularly long spoon. The dessert became popular in Britain in the 1930s. Judith Kerr describes it in her book Waiting Until Peace Comes , which only takes place in the 1940s, as a novelty from America.
