Astragaloi (ankle bones) from Cambodunum

The bone game is a family of skill games that is particularly widespread in the Central Asian region . For this, different bones are spread out on the floor or arranged in a certain figure. While a bone is being thrown into the air, as many bones as possible must be picked up from the ground with the throwing hand before the bone lands.

Depending on the game variant, the bone thrown into the air must be caught again, or a number of bones thrown out beforehand must be collected, or only bones from certain animals can be collected, etc.
