Coding specialist

The coding specialist ( clinical coder ) is a job in a hospital or in the medical service of the health insurance company . The main activity is the recording of medical services by means of case flat rates according to the guidelines in the G-DRG system . The coding was originally done by the doctors themselves, but this activity is now generally delegated to the clinical coding specialists.

The job title of clinical coding specialist and the training paths are not protected by law. Numerous institutes offer training and further education, some universities also offer courses.
