Ursula Fahrtisen

Ursula Fahrtisen (born March 6, 1948 in Schaffhausen ) is a Swiss sociologist. She studied at the JW Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main and at the Université René Descartes / Sorbonne in Paris (Maîtrise 1974). She did her doctorate and habilitation at the University of Bern (1989 and 2000).

Live and act

In Paris, Ursula Fahrtisen was involved in the early debates on 'feminist science'. She was an activist in the women's movement and became one of its exponents in Switzerland. After a substitute for a professorship at the Free University of Berlin (2001), she worked as a professor at the University of Education and as a private lecturer at the University of Bern until reaching the age limit in 2013 . From 2009 to 2019 she was a member of the management group of the National Research Program 'End of Life' (NRP 67) of the National Fund , and she is co-president of the Research Committee on Health and Medical Sociology of the Swiss Society for Sociology.
