The Cabrales Passage ( Spanish Pasaje Cabrales ; in Argentina Pasaje Trinquete ) is a 800 m wide strait off the Danco coast of Graham Land on the Antarctic Peninsula . It lies between Leniz Point and Bruce Island and runs from the Gerlache Strait to the Argentino Canal .
Chilean scientists named it after the seaman Gaspar Cabrales (1864–1879), who died when the corvette Esmeralda sank in the sea battle off Iquique on May 21, 1879.
