Kolping Tower Ellingen

The Kolping Tower in Ellingen was built in 1594. It marks the southeast corner of the former Ellingen city wall . From here, the last still accessible part of the Ellingen battlement leads to the remains of the Weißenburger Tor, which was destroyed in the Second World War . Up until that time, the tower and wall were owned by the von Wrede family , the town's former princely house. It left the tower and battlement over 60 years ago to the Ellingen Kolping family . The current name of the tower comes from this time. For legal reasons, the Ellingen Church Foundation took over the building and handed the tower and battlements over to the Kolping family for sole usufruct.

The tower, which was renovated from 2002 to 2012, is now used all year round for club meetings and youth get-togethers.
