Combined TO
A widely used wood preservative in the GDR was called Kombinal TO . Along with carbolineum and hylotox 59 , the latter containing DDT and lindane , Kombinal TO was the most widely used oily wood preservative. The agent was available in colorless and natural colors , the latter being colored brown with bitumen . Otherwise both contained the same ingredients.
effect
The main active ingredients of Kombinal were tributyltin oxide and thiram , it was approved for preventive and combative use. Closed rooms were permitted as areas of application until 1983, afterwards use outdoors with and without ground contact. Kombinal TO was effective against all plant and animal pests, including termites and soft rot, as well as almost all fungi, preventive and combative, only preventive against the real dry rot . It had a very good long-term effect (over 20 years even if it was washed out) and was insoluble in water.
processing
Kombinal TO was applied by brushing, spraying, dipping and pressure impregnation, the prescribed minimum application rate was 45 kg / m³. Kombinal was oily, thin and had a strong smell that was reminiscent of tar.
present
The wood preservative was produced until 1991, today it is no longer listed in the German wood preservative directory and may no longer be processed.
