Committee 133

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Committee 133 (Comité pour l'Article 133) is a body of the Committee of the Permanent Representatives of the Member States of the European Union , which is authoritative for the foreign trade policy of the EU.

Committee 133 is named after Article 133 of the EC Treaty , which governed the common commercial policy. Since the entry into force of the Lisbon Treaty in 2009, the corresponding regulations can be found in Article 207 of the TFEU ; however, the committee retained its established name.

At alternate level, Committee 133 meets three Fridays a month, sometimes also attended by the permanent representatives of the member states, experts and officials from the relevant national ministries and the Directorate-General for Trade. Every month there is a retreat between the representatives of the national ministries of the EU member states and the European Commission . The members of Committee 133 appointed by the governments of the member states receive their agenda from the European Commission and the respective Council Presidencies .

As a rule, the European Commission adheres to the decisions of Committee 133.
