Disputes Commission at the Ministry of Social Protection and Labor of Lithuania

The Commission for Disputes at the Ministry of Social Protection and Labor of Lithuania (lit. Ginčų komisija prie Socialinės apsaugos ir darbo ministerijos ) is an authority in Lithuania . It is subordinate to the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor of the Republic of Lithuania and is responsible for disputes relating to recognition of disabilities . The commission consists of seven members. It is the pre-litigation organization that deals with disputes between individuals, pension institutions, or disability authorities. The Commission is not a judicial authority. A complaint against the commission can be submitted in writing to the Vilnius District Administrative Court within 20 days of receiving the decision .

Vice-Minister Klaudijus Stanionis (* 1951) has been the head of the commission since November 2010 . From 2005 to 2010 Eduardas Šablinskas (* 1957) was chairman of the commission .

The predecessor of the commission was the State Commission for Medical and Social Expertise at the Ministry of Social Security and Labor (lit. Valstybinė medicininės socialinės ekspertizės komisija prie Socialinės apsaugos ir darbo ministerijos ), which was founded in February 1992. The statutes of the new commission were confirmed on January 4th, 2008.
