Comparator
A comparator generally designates a technical functional unit that compares two or more variables and delivers a result formed from them. The term is used in different areas:
- For comparing leveling staffs (checking all graduation marks on an optical bench)
- As a comparator (digital technology) for comparing digital signals
- In analog circuit technology, a comparator (analog technology) is used to compare electrical voltages
- As a stereo comparator for determining image coordinates on photographic plates or films.
