Concordance (magazines)
In the case of magazine series for which a foreign language translation is published separately, a concordance makes it easy to find the translated article in the other language series, e.g. B. at the end of each issue next to the issue index or in the last issue of the year next to the annual register. In contrast to the index , the concordance creates a relationship between the language versions of an article in both editions.
An example from the natural sciences is the German-language specialist journal Angewandte Chemie , for which there is a parallel international edition in English, the " Angewandte Chemie, International Edition ". Since an article and its translation can have different lengths for linguistic reasons, there are different page numbers for the start pages of corresponding articles in both editions. In addition, due to the later start of the International Edition , the same years of both editions have different volume numbers. Without concordance it would be very difficult to find the English equivalent of a German article .
