The Crveni krst (German Red Cross ) concentration camp was located in the northwestern suburb of the Serbian city ​​of Niš and was established by the Serbian Nazi collaboration regime under the leadership of Milan Nedić during the Second World War .

It is estimated that around 30,000 people were held in the camp and around 12,000 people were murdered, most of whom were citizens of the city of Niš. 10,000 people were executed on Bubanj Hill, which was located in the immediate vicinity of the concentration camp, where the present memorial is also located. Many of the prisoners were taken to other concentration camps such as the Sajmište concentration camp or other camps in Europe.

Most of the victims were Serbs , Jews , Roma , members of the Communist Party and their sympathizers, Tito partisans and their family members. The camp existed from September 1941 until it was liberated by Tito partisans in September 1944.
