Konzert- und Gastspielirektion (KGD) was by definition an institution for the development and promotion of the entertainment arts and concert industry in the GDR at the district level .

It was the GDR artist agency that was responsible for arranging artists in Germany.

It had a monopoly character and had a representative in each district . In addition to professional support for the artists on site, at events, KGD, as a producer, has also developed its own programs. Until 1960 she also placed GDR artists abroad, after which this task was taken over by the GDR artist agency .
