The KGS Sehnde is a cooperative comprehensive school sponsored by the city Sehnde in the Hanover region . It encompasses all types of school at lower secondary level as well as the upper secondary level . With 1656 students and 150 teachers (school year 2018/19) it is one of the largest general education schools in Lower Saxony .
A majority of the students from Sehnde attend school after primary school. Through the cooperation of the school branches, the greatest possible permeability according to the performance of the individual pupils and an optimal use of the structural resources are aimed for. In the school's mission statement, respect, the ability to work in a team and non-violent conflict management are named as central values.
KGS Sehnde celebrated its 20th anniversary in October 2012.
In the late afternoon of March 5, 2015, several classrooms and the school roof caught fire. Nobody was injured in the fire, also because school was over. The following year, 2016, there was another fire. This time it wasn't the school that burned, but a sports hall.
