Hans Horrichs

Hans Horrichs (born November 20, 1900 in Geilenkirchen ; † 1987 ) was a German local politician and electoral officer. From 1951 to 1965 he was President of the German Association of Cities .

Career

Horrichs was the son of a farmer involved in local politics. This left a lasting mark on him himself. After graduating from high school, he studied law in Bonn and Cologne with a focus on municipal law. He became a research assistant at the local political association in Cologne. He emerged as a specialist author for municipal constitutional and financial law. At the time of National Socialism he had to give up his position. He later became an employee of the German municipal publisher in Berlin. Because of his criticism of the regime, the Gestapo investigated him towards the end of the Second World War .

From 1945 Horrichs was a member of the district parliament of Berlin-Zehlendorf . He was a member of the CDU . From May 1947 to November 1965 he was City Director of Brühl . From 1951 to 1965 he chaired the German Association of Cities.
