The Weißensee polled willow is the oldest polled willow in Germany, between 140 and 200 years old . The white willow has a waist of 6.98 meters and a circumference of 7.80 meters just above the ground. The tree is near Nausiss am Helgraben about 2 km northwest of Weissensee . In the area of the Saxon and Schwarzburger Helbe , on the Lache and the numerous ditches, there are still around 5000 polluted willows. Pollard willows have been planted and used there for over 600 years since monks and farmers created the artificial Helbe water system there.
