Kops (textile)

Kops is a form of bobbin with a sleeve (bobbin or bobbin) for ring spinning or ring twisting machines .

The cop shape (see picture on the right) is achieved by first forming a conical base on the lower part of the tube, onto which a layer of yarn is alternately crossed and wound in parallel.

The main advantage of this technique is that the yarn is easy to pull off the tube during further processing. The take-off speed can reach up to 20 m / s with normal staple fiber yarns ( e.g. when winding ).

The tubes are made of impregnated cardboard or polyamide , depending on the construction of the spinning or twisting points, up to 400 grams of yarn can be wound onto a tube.
