Obesity factor

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The obesity factor is a biometric index that characterizes fish stocks . It describes the ratio of body weight to body length.

Definition and evaluation

The corpulence factor K is calculated using the following numerical equation:

,

where the body weight in grams and the length of the fish in centimeters .

Low obesity factors generally indicate poor living conditions, such as B. overstocking or chronic lack of oxygen . Because of the high weight of the gonads at this time, determining the corpulence factor during the spawning season does not make sense.
