Correlation test (statistics)
A correlation test referred to in the statistics , a method in which the correlation of two test variable is checked.
This exam can have two goals:
- plausibility
- causality
- Confirmation of hypotheses
Conversely, however, there is not a connection with every correlation :
"The fact that two features correlate with one another does not allow a reliable conclusion to the existence of a causal relationship."
- Rolf J. Lorenz: Basic concepts of biometrics. Stuttgart 1984
- example
The number of storks does not correlate with the number of children in a village.
