Kourion Museum

The Kourion Museum (English: "Local Kourion Museum") is a small local museum in the village of Kourion on the south coast of the Mediterranean island of Cyprus . Mainly archaeological finds from antiquity are shown in two rooms, which were excavated in the Apollon Hylates sanctuary near Kourion and in the immediate vicinity.

The museum is less than a hundred meters east of a small parking lot in the middle of the village.

Exhibits

Above all, ceramic vessels, votive offerings , marble reliefs with inscriptions and other archaeological finds from the Cypriot-Archaic to the Roman period are on display . In a showcase, three victims of the earthquake of July 23rd, 365 are shown: the skeletons of a 25-year-old man who is hugging a 19-year-old woman with a one and a half year old baby. The remains of the house in which the young family was buried can be seen on the Acropolis of Kourion between the basilica and the theater on the large excavation site nearby.
